CPU cooler advice plz - 10/31/2005 16:40:33
I'm thinking of replacing the bog standard (read as shi7e) intel CPU cooler for my 3 gig Prescott ASUS MOBO PC. So wondering who has what or has had a good one they would say was worth having. Price range upto about 50/100 pounds for a really sh1t hot one that makes ice cubes while it keeps my PC's CPU cool is desirable. :))

If you assemble you own PCs, as I do, and want something relatively quiet, you might consider including a Zalman Reserator: http://www.xoxide.com/watcoolkit.html Don't know if it'll work with your MOBO.

What kind of setup are you running? Why do you think your current one will not be sufficient enough? Are you doing OCing or what? I have heard as much as 13-15 degrees difference going from a standard fan to something like this.

If you purchased your CPU retail, you will be perfectly fine with what you have. People who usually do heavy OCing will purchase these better heatsinks/fans. You have a decent case with adequate cooling, there is no need to waste money on something that really won't help much.

I can't even see mine, can you actually see yours if it was a cool looking one that lit up? Those Blue LED ones will be fine for cooling an Intel CPU.

The cables and such are too cluttered. If you can see your heatsink, then buy a sexy one, if you can't, there is no reason to buy something that looks better, if you can't see it. Mine is going to look even worse when I add another 8 tiny cables throughout the case.

A new fan/heatsink would look pretty nice inside the case. A Zalman blue led one might be your best option.
