abyrne -> Help with photogallery - red X (11/12/2005 11:23:35)

Hi!

Just started creating a webpage http://koti.welho.com/abyrne/

When I insert any picture to my webpage, the picture doesn't show on webpage, just a red X... what could be the reason?

I'm very thankful for any help, but please be gentle, I am not technically minded in any way and my knowledge of Frontpage terminology is limited [:)]

If you know some step by step instructions you could point me to, this would be very helpful. However, if you want to be my knight in shining armour, you could give me some instructions here.

Ok, yes I admit it I'm blond when it comes to computers, but I am trying, honestly!

Thanks in advance,
Anu

<gently>src="index_files/image001.gif" alt="Peter Byrne Photography" v:shapes="_x0000_s1025"><![endif]></p>
<p><img border="0" src="images/favorites(49).jpg" width="100" height="66"></p>

that is from your code which says one pic is in a folder called index_files and the other is in images. the red dot is because they are not being found there. either they werent published to the web server or they were published but not to those folders. step one: are they in fact in those folders on your pc? </gently>

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your quick and gentle reply! I have now made sure that those picture files are in the right folders, but... if I try to publish those pictures (I think this what I'm supposed to do) the program asks for a remote web server type and it seems that the operator where my webpage is doesn't support frontpage services (1st option) and if I try to choose FTP, which I believe it should support...I'm not sure what to put there on the remote web site location or FTP directory. Maybe my website provider should know this?

Very confusing...

Hi Anu, and welcome to OF! [:)]

Yes, you hosting company will be able to tell you where the ftp directory is.

Hi again,

Ok, now I found the information for the ftp and one picture shows on the main page [:)]

But.... then I tried to create a photogallery and that only the mainpicture shows, but not the thumbnails. And I can't figure what I have done wrong....

The link is http://koti.welho.com/abyrne/photogallerybw.htm

Thanks again for your help!!
