Hyperlinks Don't Appear on One Machine - 11/17/2005 15:23:38
One machine in our office always suppresses the display of hyperlinks and banner ads on just certain pages of our company website. Every other machine in the office will display them with no problem, and the links and ads are apparently also visible and active for our customers and vendors.

I thought the problem might be with a setting in IE 6.0, so
I loaded Mozilla Firefox on both the "problem child"
machine and on my own (fully functional) machine to test that theory. Results: My machine showed the links just fine in either IE 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox; the other machine won't display them in either browser. So, I can't isolate it to a particular browser.

I have toyed with the various security/privacy/firewall settings, but to no avail. I'm wondering if this is an operating system or, perhaps, even a video signaling issue. Any ideas would be of help.

Welcome. We've had a few people posting these things and it's never the same answer.

If you've checked all the settings then the only thing I would suspect is the op sys.

Try looking at the code for the pages that don't work and the pages that do and see if there's a clue in there. Anything different such as doctype or javascript flash

If you still can't come up with anything then I'm going to use that really bad word.................

reinstall! :)

Just a thought, make sure the machines owner hasn't been installing non standard stuff. If they've decided to whack on Norton or something that could be causing it.

Have you tried completely turning off (closing down) any firewalls temporarily to see if that is the problem? Zone Alarm and NIS are often the culprit in this sort of problem.
