paul rayner -> FP Built in FTP and won't connect (11/19/2005 5:16:28)
I'm trying to use Fp2003's built in FTP server to upload files - one of which uses a FP component.
I can connect using Filezilla FTP client - so I know username and pass are correct.
In FP, when I enter the details, it keeps coming back to the login screen. I use ZoneAlrm firewall, and I have FP setup to act as a server.
Can anyone shed any light for me please?
Paul

Not sure about your connection problems, but if you're using FP components you're generally better using 'publish' in FP to upload files because on the whole FP components need FP extensions on the server to work, and ftp-ing can corrupt the extensions. 'Publishing' also ensures the hidden files that are needed for the FP components to work get copied across as well.

Thanks Womble - I was going to use publish, but, can't get past the authentication screen. I add the username, then the password, hit OK, and I'm back to where I started.
As I said, I know that the username and password work. The ISP has assured me FP extensions are installed - the admin interface also shows that to be true. Other ideas????

Have your host try your username and password to see if it works...

Done that - he can connect using user and pass. But, he wasn't using FP. Just a normal FTP client.

Try reinstalling the FPSEs. If you've FTPd you may have corrupted them.
If it still doesn't work, turn off Zonealarm and try. People on here have had problems with that little fella.
