Microsoft Outlook XP Issue - 11/22/2005 12:26:57   
I have a machine here that when I try to attach a file to an email to send it locks up. However, this is only when the file comes from a folder other than the My Documents folder. I can attach a folder from My Docs with no problems. It also locks when I try to save an attachment to any other folder than the My Docs folder.

When it locks I cannot shut it down with Tas manager and end up having to reboot. It is so frustrating, any ideas??

try copying the file first to my docs.... then u will learn if its the folder or the file type.

Uninstalled and re-installed Office and the problem still occurs. Further, it only appears to occur when I use the drop-down folder selector.

This led me to thinking it was a Windows problem and not Office.

I have just tried the drop-down folder selector in other Windows Apps and it doesn't work with them either???

However, if I access webmail and attach a file which then brings up the windows file selector, the drop down folder selector works fine?????

Getting desperate!!:)

Not even getting to the file, it locks when I select the drop down?

As mentioned previously, the drop-down folder selector freezes in all apps, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.

Just to give this some closure. I ran the Trend Micro scan on the machine and following the cookie deletion option, the problem was solved. Don't know why but if anyone has any ideas, I would be keen to hear.
