Web Folders - 9/11/2001 23:47:00
What does my client need on their computer(s) to allow them to update a price list. Web Folders or do they need FrontPage installed?

I believe it depends on the price list. Is it static - hard coded on a HTML page - or is it dynamic - in a database file?

It also depends on the client. Is he/she computer saavy? If it's just a DB file that they need to copy over, then Web Folders should work although I'm not entirely positive.

The page is static (no database)...and the client is not computer savvy.

I don't know about that one. How involved is the page? Lots of graphics, links, etc? You may be able to put the price list in a plain .TXT file and do an 'include'. Then the client just needs to use WebFolders.

Either that or you could set your client up with a Support Package with x number of updates.... ;-)

Nice page... I don't see how the client uploading a text file will help. I suspect either you'll need to go the DB route, get FrontPage to your client (and train, etc.), or do the work yourself.

Personally, I would not put FP into your clients hands - they may get brave and try all sorts of things (if you know what I mean...)

EDIT: You may be able to let the client edit a Word file (with table) and have them publish the price list table (via WebFolders). Then use 'include' in the space for the actual price list. Unfortunately you may have problems with the links - you did say the client was not very 'puter savvy....
