Publishing Tip! Server Time Outs - 9/14/2001 23:00:00

For a long time I had problems publishing my rather large website. I would get "server has Timed Out" eror messages.

Problem Solved:

1) I removed my desktop wallpaper which was a photograph.

It seems that anything that is running in the background of window while you try to publish will slow publishing down. Also check any programs that automatically start up when you boot up. i.e. realaudio, netzip. You can disable these in the msconfig.

Also I have had better luck publishing right after I boot up, before I open any other programs.

Hope this helps some of you who have had the same problem.

Server Time Outs - 9/15/2001 20:50:00 what are your system specs? sounds to me you running low on resources. many variables involved with a timeout and most dont involve the pc that you are publishing from. i suppose perhaps running low on system resources could cause a lag in sending packets. thats why i ask your system specs (in reply to woodymsu)
