Jordan -> Google Sponsored Link (at the top of the page) (11/30/2005 21:43:50)

How does one wrangle a "sponsored link" at the top of the page on Google? A client wants to know what it would cost to be placed there to jump start his business. I've searched Google, but haven't found any information beyond the AdSense and AdWords.

That is a function of Google Adwords.

Google Adwords.
actually not - adwords display alongside google search - adsense is ads on your site

Dan - did you notice the detail in this bit? Jordan was not meaning ads on his own site.

We run Adwords, and Google decides (at their discretion) to place an Ad at the top of the main listings (SERPS) as a sponsored link, not on the right hand side which is most common. As an advertiser, you cannot control this unless you pay an undetermined premium for certain words.

But nevertheless, it is still a function (part of) Adwords.

Thanks! I suspected that was the case, but wasn't certain.
