I tried search but I am not good w/ search syntax's. I will first describe my environment.
Windows 2000
Front page 2000
IIS 5.0
FrontPage 2000 Extentions
This is a web that has 140 different subwebs. We are running the old extentions because of lack of know how. At the moment, and upgrade is not an option.
Problem:
When opening front page to edit a web, everything works fine. When you try to go to the securities, it give an error saying "An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - If authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster. Webmasters - Please see the servers system log for more info." I've gone to the event logs and have found nothing that can help.
If I PCAnywhere into the server and attempt to open ISM, nothing happens. If i got to computer management, i can open up everything other then the Service and Applications tap. If i click on it, the MSC just locks up.
If i try and run MBSA against the server, it will just sit at the 3/4 mark and not do anything. I have to end task it. I've even reboot the server and it didn't help at all. The last thing i've done to the server was apply the most recent set of windows updates but didn't write down each update to see which ones I could back off. (learning experience)
Question:
Does anyone know what could cause this type of behavior? What can I look for that might be running or not running? Any service packs ring a bell right off hand?
