1st comment, the flash file took ages to load the first time leaving just a blank space and me wondering what it was all about.

Music on a site with no warning/that you can't switch off it not a good idea.

You could do with standardising the fonts across the site. They tie together better if you use the same font/style of font consistently.

Otherwise, very good.

Hi Womble.[:)]
Well, the site isn't mine to make changes too of course...lol.
But, that initiative alone has sent 120,000lbs of goods to the victims of the gulf hurricanes.[:D]
Thanks for having a look!

Site hasn't been updated in over 2 months.

Whilst I'm sure it is a worthy cause and completely above reproach, visit is fine - donate with care.

Rockcandy38 -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/8/2005 15:00:52)

Oh goodness, I wasn't asking for donations of any kind. [8|]
Like I said they have done very well without our help. My invite was to the forum only, if any of you can remember.
But, unforuntately the admin there has been dealing with personal affairs of some sort and yes, the site could use updating. And now the forum is even missing..[&:]
But the initiative is still going strong, you can't stop a moving train..[;)].
I am not associated to the site. I was only inviting others to the forum, that was briefly there is all.
I was blessed enough to watch the site come together, and knowing what I know about the musicians that are behind the initaitive is where my excitement stemmed. I was only at the time, trying to make others aware because I became aware of the names in music that are involved. So, you see my friends your suspicions are wrong.
And now my reason for posting the site is only to finaly let all of you know, why I came here in the first place. I wasn't sure the link would survive another location, so critique away if you must, but the site owner is a professional with the highest credibilities, and is hired by other professionals in website design. So, please be kind because like I said I am not associated to the site in anyway, and I am not sure that this judgement would be fair in his nonattendance..[;)]

God Bless You 1&All!

Hold on there tiger.
If there has been an error of judgement, it was yours. Posting a site in the site checks forum means you are asking what forum members make of the site as a technical piece of work. So, in effect it was you asking what others made of the web designers' work in their absence.

If you wanted to promote the cause, which is admirable, then you have done it no favours whatsoever as far as the site checks forum is concerned. I am sure, if you had thought about it just for a minute you could have found another forum on this site that had more relevance to the stated reasons behind your post. Indeed several members of OF have worked extremely hard to help a developer to get another appeal for the hurricane victims off the ground.

Take my advice or leave it, it is up to you but I run a non-for-profit in the UK and if I found out a "supporter" of the cause had done this sort of thing , I would be apoplectic.

Rockcandy38 -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/8/2005 18:56:02)

yes well congrats on your good will spit. But, it seems to me no matter where you post on this site it is the same result...lol. Screw it..I give up here...not worth it.

golfer -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/8/2005 19:37:25)

Please see my comment on your other posting in the lounge.

Oh, and by the way. Thank you for your selfish politeness.

spitfire -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 5:47:23)

hunh... other posting? ... doh! I see it now, should get out more. Looks like we've been harrassed, nay harangued, before then under a different disguise [8D] But should we be bovvered? [:D]

Not bovvered at all. Are you bovvered? Of course you're not bovvered.

spitfire -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 6:10:07)

Look at the face, do I look bovvered? Face? bovvered? Do you know Chas 'n Dave though? [sm=sick.gif]

Donkey -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 7:44:55)

Alas I hear that Chas and Dave now hate the sight of each other and only perform together because of the money. (apparently they get more than a fiver each per show).

There's not much "music" I hate more than Country and Western but those two caricatures are on the list.

If you want real English Ethnic music you have to travel down to young Andy's neck of the woods and listen to the mighty Wurzels. Never quite as good as when they were fronted by the great Adge Cutler but still good family entertainment.

spitfire -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 8:29:00)

Donkey:
How very dare you.

You're showing your age as well. Wurzels - pretty good, but missing Adge badly. Aside: did you put his site up for a critique? FWIW, IMHO it stands its ground very well in comparison to the hallowed Bruce Lawson's ZenGarden submission http://csszengarden.com/?cssfile=http://www.tastydirt.com/zen/sample.css

For real family entertainment you need to go to the prrroperrrr West Country, not those wannabe counties in between. http://www.jethro.co.uk/ [;)]

I used to like Jethro, as a mere youth, (me not him) I saw him live twice. The performances were about two years apart (the second time the Wurzels were his support act) unfortunately all the jokes hadn't changed.

I haven't seen much of his recent work but I hope he's removed some of the childishly racist stuff he used to include. He's a bit like Jim Davidson as far as that goes. I don't take offence at it, more get annoyed that anyone thinks it's funny.

My favourite comedian is Bernard Manning he's offensive to everyone regardless of colour, race, religious persuasion, sexual preference or disability. [;)]

spitfire -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 11:03:06)

Haha.
Took my in-laws to see the blessed J live last Christmas. "She who must be obeyed" walked out and hasn't acknowledged my presence since[sm=yupi3ti.gif] - didn't notice any racist stuff - the smutty stuff is what caused offense to her finer sensitivities, even though she swears like a trooper (ooops is that politically incorrect, too?) and sends me scurrying for the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Olde Englishe Expletives.

Nice to see some "sense of humour by-pass" ops are enduringly successful though[:D]

Donkey -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 12:20:50)

Talking of comedians Spit, do you ever see your old comedy partner Bob Carolgees nowadays? I know the break up was acrimonious but I have heard rumours you might get together for one final performance.

spitfire -> RE: Musicians Gulf Relief Initiative (12/9/2005 13:47:53)

Yep, we are still available for one final... wedding do woof[:D]
Congrats to both of you BTW
