Impossible....? - 12/9/2005 8:38:43
This is something that has been bugging me for a while. I hope somebody else has seen this before because it is getting right on my nerves. If you can help me test this... The cat link is in my profile. Thanks

Here is the problem.... When editing in FP and when previewing (in FP and browser) all inserted images are fine. I can view them, all is good. As soon as I upload the site, some graphics, not all, become unviewable. they are not present. Niether is the hyperlink that accompanies the pic. It's as if the pic was not inserted on the page to begin with. Other people can view the offending pic, I am sure you will be able to also but I cannot... Grrr :):)

This is also happening on another new site that I am halfway through building.

If you do decide to test this out for me.... The offeding pic is on my home page. Next to ten cat thumbnails located halfway down the page are 2 buttons... BLOG and FRAPPR/MAP.

I can see the blog button but I cannot see the frappr button. It is very annoying. I have tried all manner of cache and temp file maintenance, checking with my host re, hotlinks and omitted file types. I have even tested the difference between JPG and GIF (which was no difference whatsoever). I don't understand why some will display and others won't. It is probably worth pointing out the IE and FF produce the same problem.

Thanks in advance.

its showing up fine for me...:)..Tip: your code would be easier to debug if you spread it out..indent etc.

Hmmm, even more curious...Everybody can see it except me.

If it makes it easier to asses... I will republish the page without optimizing the white spaces out etc?

I can see it too - clutching at straws here but have you tried renaming the image? Reason I mention this is that some Firewalls block images with certain names like "ad" and "banner" I'm thinking that just maybe it might not like the word "logo" in the photo title. That's a real long shot though!

I am willing to give anything a try, I thought the blog button filename also began with 'logo_' but then it probably isn't if my file management is anything to go by.

Thanks, I will get back to you.

ok, I have renamed the pic. As you (we all suspected) it made no difference but was worth a shot. I have replublished the home page without opimization so as to make easier viewing in code view.

One other thing....

Not only does the image fail to appear. The blog button above it moves down to the center of the cell in accordance with the cell formatting (as if the map button really isn't there).

I am stumped.

Sod it... These buttons are gone in favour of good old fashioned reliable text links.

I think I have just worked out the answer to this problem.....

Two of my sites both contain an image called head91.jpg but they are different images in different locations. This causes neither file to appear when the page is viewed.

I don't think it is a browser temp file problem because you could all see the images but something on my PC was getting confused.

Renaming one of the files did the trick.
