wrap text around a picture? - 12/10/2005 1:51:15
How can I wrap text around a picture? Heres a sample of a website that has pictures and the text around it. I would like to do something similar.

http://www.coversearch.com/heater/forced_air_heaters.htm

When I try to insert the picture in the cell/box the text comes out looking funny. Can anyone help?

Thanks so much!

Yess

p.s Im new to Frontpage :)

Hi,

Welcome to OutFront!

Place the picture just before the paragraph you want to wrap around.

Then double click on the picture to bring up the Picture Properties box. The first tab is called "Appearance" and has wrapping styles near the top.

Choose Left or Right then give it a few pixels of Horizontal Spacing (to distance it from the text) and click OK and you are done! :)

This is something that shouldn't take much working out but I also suffered with layout probs at first.

The easy way for me was to place the picture before the first letter on each paragraph and then, with the picture highlighted, click the left, right or center justification button on the toolbar (as you would normally do to justify a paragraph of text.... This justifies the picture, the text automatically flows around it.

Is this essentially what you said Kitka? lol

No, it's a slightly different method with much the same result. Trouble is, to add the necessary padding to keep the text from abutting the picture too closely, you still need to open the Picture Properties box. So you might as well do everything all in one place.

Especially as in the next tab of the properties box called "General" there is the place for adding Text for the essential "alt" attribute. How do you normally add alt text to a pic? :)

Yes... forgive me... So far I have been too lazy to add text to my pictures.

I wll now apologise to those who have images disabled and flog myself with a cat-o-nine-tails for half an hour as punishment.

I always write them on the screen in crayon so people that don't need 'em can just wipe it off. :)

Hi and Welcome to Outfront.

Sorry 'bout all the riff-raff in your post. :) :) :)

I think it's a whole lot simpler to put this in the img tag:

style="float: right;"

Pretty easy don't 'cha think?:)

I do, but I doubt that yess will. S/he indicated being new to FrontPage and newbies are rarely comfortable even looking under the hood at the html code, let alone editing it.

That's rich ... coming from a Life Member of the OutFront Smut Brigade :)

You and your cohorts will steer any thread off-topic, even before the person who started the thread gets a decent answer. :) :)

... and let the record show that I have never pulled out a whip in any other thread anywhere, and only did so in this one to very kindly assist Rocket Boy (it's pretty difficult to flog ones self with a cat-o-nine-tails :)) :)

A whip? Strange description, but whatever you call it ... it is harmless :) :)

/prefers indecent threads

Yup, the smut brigade even manage to take their own threads off topic before an answer is received! It's a talent we were born with.

As my old gran used to say though, where's the fun in going straight from A to B, take the scenic route and see a little of the country. Life's too short.

Here endeth womble's philosophical essay of the day.

:)

Hi guys,

I just wanted to give you guys a big thanks for your suggestions. I was out of time and was just now able to check the responses.

I was able to successfully wrap the text around the picture! (yay!) I probably would have spent way too much time trying to figure it out on my own :)

Thanks again!

yess
