First Class Email Paste Problem - 12/13/2005 11:26:58
I have a problem, and so far no-one with a sensible name has been able to solve it.....

Whenever I paste any text from a first class email into a page within frontpage, frontpage crashes - everytime, without exception.

client version of firstclass doesnt make any differance, neither does frontpage version as far as I can tell (I am using 2002)

I await your wise counsel.

Try pasting into notepad first then copy and paste into FP.

This does work, but my naive newbie attitude says surely there is a soultion to the problem, rather than a work arround..... and yes I do still belive in Father Christmas...

Dammit. that leaves me out too :)

Some things are just beyond all reasonable comprehension - there may be a certain combination of factors that only you have on your PC that no one else has.

Typically though, it is best to 'unformat' text by going through notepad first.

Are you using ctrl v when it crashes? the insert menu?

When you right click to paste into FP (assuming you're pasting into the HTML view window) do you have an option to "Paste as" or "Paste special" ?

Sure take a peek at the source code for "first class"'s email. Since a cut and paste from notepad works this tells me it is something embeded in the coding. When cut and pasting from first class you are not just bringing over the words but everything "behind the scenes". When using notepad it strips out all the background"stuff" and is only pasting words.

It is in the code. not sure what but it is there.

Take care,

Brian

I have now tried a few of these options...

firstly if I paste into the html it works fine.

If I paste spacial (any options) it works fine

If I paste using "paste" or CTRL+V, ir crashes, even a single word! Knowing that I can paste special will help.... I sence this is going to be one of those times that I have to be happy with a workarround rather than a fix.

Thanks folks for your input.
