Microsoft Image Composer - 12/13/2005 15:32:07
Is anyone on here using Microsoft Image Composer?
I am wondering if it is worth purchasing an old copy of Frontpage in order to get it.

I used it for awhile on an old computer and remember it being very simple and intuitive......

So what do you think...get image composer....get paintshop or breakdown and figure out how to use my copy of photoshop that I got for free! ( I sold a house to a fellow that worked for adobe and he gave me a copy of photoshop and illustrator as a closing gift)

Thanks for your input

John

Learn Photoshop (or send it to me :))

Once you get used to working with layers and where PS puts the tools you'll love it. You'll never even need to learn 90% of the program to produce some really great images for websites.

IC can do great things too, but it's not nearly as powerful and you'll have to be far more skilled with it to create what will eventually be a slam dunk for you in Photoshop.

That being said... I still think you should send it to me...

:)

Have my old copy of PS 6 sitting in a closet somewhere.....:)

Agree with bobby-Image Composer is not the way to go and Photoshop or even Elements will get you much further in life.

I'm with Bobby here. While I've always been an advocate of Image Composer I certainly wouldn't "buy it" if I had a free copy (assuming reasonably new) of Photoshop available. Of course if you must have IC maybe we can work out a trade... :):):)

My PS6 disk got destroyed when we moved a couple years ago... got a new PC last January and I've been without ever since.

Thank you all for your input!

The copies of PS and illustrator that I received are now a few years old..so I will probably upgrade - but not to CS versions...too many bad comments at Amazon and other places.

Thank you
John

I, too, have been using IC for a long long time. I love it but I would LOVE to learn photoshop but it seems so hard though. I dont know what im doin and i dont have time to read any instruction book. can anyone help me figure this out quickly? yes i know my way around computers very well so teaching me ANYTHING will be fast and easy. Using image composer has been great for me designing my website for the past 6 years. But i think it's time for me to make things easier and start using photoshop now.

Welcome to Outfront gee55,

That being said just get a copy (if you don't already have one) and get to it. There are a ton of forums out there with help and tutorials for photoshop so it shouldn't be toooooo hard for you. :)
Personally I stuck with PSP (after moving from IC) for $$$ reasons but they're not worlds apart after all...:)

Your software is only as good as the person who uses it.

That said, my very first site was built with FrontPage and Image Composer. Most people thought I used Photoshop for the graphics and usually had not heard of IC. It was a great little program and was not only intuitive, but ultraeasy to use.

And there was a guy who did amazing things with IC. Whenever someone would say, "I did this in Photoshop. Can you do this with Image Composer?" he would go do it in IC.

BTW, it's not how fast you learn a program, but how fast you understand the program that makes you efficient.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. I would also like to second the request for obtaining a copy of Image Composer- my original disc is frazzled and I foolishly left much of my work in MIC format. I have been unable to locate a back copy of Frontpage 97/2000/02 and am sort of desperate. If anyone would be so kind as to direct me to a place where I can download Image Composer, or upload the installer, I would be greatly indebted.

Thank you.

If you had Image Composer 1.5, then you have what was the last
version actually developed by Microsoft. IC came with any stand-alone
copy or upgrade copy of FrontPage 98 or FrontPage 2000. The only thing
available from some grey sites is the Image Composer 1.5 beta trial, where you take a chance. :)

You could try Ebay or boot sales.
