"Expression Engine" and Front page??? - 12/16/2005 14:03:05
Greetings all; I have just run into a product called "Expression Engine" which seems to be PHP based, and allows creation of all kinds of websites; not just blogs.

It looks good!

So what I am curious about....since I have been using Front Page for lo these many years...since it came out; and have loved Front Page...is

Have any of you used it?
What do you know about it?
What are the pros/cons compared to a Front Page site?
What else should I think about before trying one of my FP sites; converting to Expression Engine, as a trial?

Click here to go to the Expression Engine Website.....

Thank you!!

Looks interesting - obviously for different purposes though. There would be a bit of a learning curve to adjust to the design / code reuirements of the php pages, but it could be useful as a cms

Thanks Spooky...

I signed up for the $10.00 for one month trial and it does seem as though it would be useful as a CMS...do the design (templates, CSS, etc) in Front Page or otherplace, then convert to the EE "templates" (their word for pages) and basically, it turns into a very nice looking website that can then be edited as a CMS web.

Looks like you can eliminate all of the "blogging" stuff so it doesn't show....and just do a straighforward web, but with a lot of nice features...listed as modules and then.....access and edit from any web browser.

Of course it needs to be on a PHP-enabled server. And you probably wouldn't use the Front page tools; but they seem to have a bunch of their own.

So I will explore further.
