fav icon appears IMMEDIATELLY online ? - 12/19/2005 13:01:13
If I have a hosting web space with many subwebs(frontpage webs) may insert a different favicon in each subweb ?
If I insert a fav icon to an index.htm page this automatically go and to other subpages ?
After finishing inserting a fav icon this automatically appears IMMEDIATELLY online ?

I've never tried, but I don't think so. Favicon is keyed to the domain name (I think)

Once you visit a site with a Favicon it should show up throughout the rest of the site.

Once the image is uploaded and the code is on the page, yes.

I've got a favicon on my site - I've also got several other favicons "lower down" in the same site on test pages for clients - so I don't see why you couldn't use them on subdomains.

I think so long as it is in the root of the folder of the pages it is fine, cos I am same as Tail, got a few on one site, so long as it's in the right place and you link correctly too it you should be fine.

Hi again

Different browsers deal with favicons in different ways - can't actually remember which way round this goes but anyway, one lot will have favicons appearing in bookmarks but not always on the url bar and the other lot have it appearing in the url bar but not always the bookmarks.

If you're using IE then using your mouse, drag a couple of times at the little IE icon that appears in the url bar ahead of your website address - and your favicon should appear - it works for me in FF straight off and in IE when I pull at it a bit.

Weird I know.

Possibly something I should ask over at phpbb.com, but as we're talking about them I thought I'd mention it here.

I've be playing around trying (unsuccessfully) to get one to work on a phpBB board - which file do I need to put the link in to get it to show up? I've tried putting it in the main index.htm page for subsilver (not all the styles I have installed seem to have an index.htm page - I'm presuming they're using the subsilver one?) but it's not playing. Any ideas?

I don't know how it's structured - does the theme have a header.php file with the header stuff in - if so I'd stick it in there.

Tail, you're a genius!!! I was assuming it'd be something to do with the index.htm page but wondering why I couldn't find the <head> info - it's actually in the file called "overall_header.tpl" for anyone else who's wondering how it's done.

Yay! I'm now a happy little womble! :)

Nah.. just flukey!

I thought it might be like Wordpress where you have header, footer, sidebar includes etc.

If I have a hosting web space with many subwebs(frontpage webs) may insert a different favicon in each subweb folder ? Please note that each subweb has it's own Forward-to-url domain ?

Forward-to-url domains may have fav icons ? If yes, masked or unmasked domains ?
