HELP!!!!!!!!!!! - 12/26/2005 14:49:01
I just got a new computer and I have it upstairs and my router is downstairs. I connect to the internet by a D-Link device that plugs in to a USB port. I had the internet up and running last night, but it isn't working this morning. Every thing seems to be working, but I still cant get on. The device is picking up a good signal and it is enabled. My router supports up to 4 wireless devices, but that doesn't matter becaues There is not any other wireless device on, so it should work. I need help!

Are you getting any kind of error message? If not it might be as easy as refreshing the wireless networks and then acquiring your network.

*sigh* I've tried that... Yes I did get an error message, when I right click on the connection 3 icon on the task bar and click repair it goes through fixing everything, but then it says that it cant clear the DNS cache and to contact my service provider... I called my cable/ internet provider before, but they are never too helpful...

on the bottom of your desktop, in the tray where your clock and stuff is....

Look for an icon that looks like a monitor with two little quarter circles to the right. That icon should blink when you are using the wireless access point (your d-link thing)

Right click on that and you should see something that says view available wireless networks. Click on that and see if it finds your router downstairs and how many bars.

Click on your network and see what happens. Sounds like you aren't hitting your router to me. PM me if you want.
