Using custom fonts.... - 10/8/2001 20:58:00
If I use a custom true-type font, (which I got from www.fontfoundry.com - good site) in my web designs, how will users view this if they don't have the font? Is there any way round it, or do I have to put the font usage into GIF / JPEG format?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

There is a way to try to force the visitor to download and install your font (http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft3/default.htm,) but it's a bit complicated, and folks tend to freak when they come to a site and are greeted with a box that asks them if they want to download something that may or may not be harmful to their machine.

This is why most sites save the cool fonts for graphics, and use common fonts for live text.

Cheers Thomas - guessed that'd be the case - if any other sly ideas come to mind - you know where I am....!
