goog le search results - 1/2/2006 21:55:24
I was checking the competition and something new in google i've never seen before:

part of search results:

company.com/ - 17k - Cached - Similar pages

restaurants - recipes - around town - nightlife
More results from company.com »

Its this line:
restaurants - recipes - around town - nightlife

each section is hyperlinked to sections of the website,

My question is: what causes this in results?

thanks, & happy new year!

I'm surprised no one answered my question, i can give an example online but don't want to do it publicly, my question remains: how does someone have there website section shown up in google, does google have a website section submission page? or something?

any ideas.......

Thanks

That sub-section links thing has been around for quite a while - since Sep-Oct last year at least.

It mostly seems to apply to world ranking no 1 sites. AFAIK - no-one knows what criteria Google are applying to choose which sites get the extras, or if any money changing hands is involved.

<edit> There is a recent thread here in OutFront:

Thanks for the reply, It has happened to the url in number 1 spot for main search term and although the url has been in number 1 for quite some time (over 2 years), it just happen to appear the other day. The site has no robot.txt or urllist or google sitemap installed, also it may be worth noting that the subResult links do not follow the same succession as layed out in the web page. And also the name of the link seems to have nothing to do with the name of the page.

Try searching Google for "webmasterworld"

Note that the first two sub-sections listed are Google related :)
I'm certain they aren't the most active of their forums. There is definitely human input involved, and probably money too.
