Virtual Directory - forbiden - 1/5/2006 10:44:11
Hope this is right place to post this...

I am running an IIS server on Windows XP Pro. I have Front Page extensions 2002 installed.

I have created a virtual directory to publish. My Directory Security for both the default web page and the virtual directory has anonymous access enabled. and nothing checked in the Authenticated Access settings.

But when I t ry to go to the virtual directory, I get Forbidden in the browser.

I don't see anything on Microsoft about other settings I need to make in order to see the pages in the virtual directory.

I also disabled the software firewall to see if that was causing the problem, and that didn't make any difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Roger

Is this when viewing the directory or publishing to the directory

When I try to view the directory via a browser.

Now, maybe I need to do somethign that I haven't done. What I did was this:

  • Original web site exists
  • Create new page and pics to view, and save to a directory
  • From the Manage Computer/Internet on teh server, created a virtual directory pointing to the directory with the files. I have a file in there named index.htm

So, I hope to have it display the index.htm that is in the virtual directory when I type in the url http://mywebname/virtualdirectory name

Must be a problem specific to my system that no-one else has experienced, as no suggestions coming from here...
