Exchanging Links with the Competition - 1/9/2006 17:23:30
Hello, Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate your help in increasing my traffic. Would exchanging links with the so called "competition" be feasible. Will they let me link to their site to drive traffic to my site ? My website is about creating "Resume's and cover letter for people", should I contact other Resume' webmasters to ask them to include a link for my site or should it be a website that is under a similar but "different" category. Thanks, su

Thanks, su Hi Susu, Many people approach "competitors" with a win-win proposal -- link exchange. Some will say yes, others won't. There's no harm in asking. Everyone wants inbound links to their site, and you can provide that to them in exchange for one to theirs. Many (if not most) webmasters operate that way. I would also check out complementary services and websites online. For example, sites that provide information about how to create resumes, how to research for them, anything to do with improving people's work situations, etc. Although many of these sites help people do for themselves what you want to do for them for a fee, often people will get into it and then realise it's easier to hire someone else to do it for them. Good luck! Starhugger

thanks Star, That's great advice, I will surely contact all these webmasters, I hope I can ask you one other question, it is about the actual "link itself". If they want me to put a link on mysite also, isn't it best not to put a "graphic Link" since it will slow down my website. If I have to link back to them, wouldn't it be better to put a "text link" rather than a graphic link ? My site is a little slow as is. Thanks ! su

Here is the post you made on that one... http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-307529/tm.htm Take care, Brian
