rietpetiet -> Cannot publish to IIS 5 with frontpage server extentions 2002 (1/27/2006 8:27:30)

Hi, I have set up a webserver (IIS 5) with frontpage server extentions 2002. From a different computer in the same workgroup, I want to publish to this webserver using FP 2003.

Whenever I try to publish to this webserver (using the option of publishing to a server running frontpage extentions), it will present a login box with the username already filled in (\\COMPUTER\Guest) that will give me the option to type a password.

The problem is that the user name is disabled so I cannot choose an other user name. Therefore I cannot log on using this login box and therefore cannot publish.

Does anybody know:

a) why frontpage uses the Guest account as the default account
b) why the user name is disabled
c) what I can do to fix this problem.

thanks in advance, best regards

Marcel

I'm running into the exact same issue - it's driving me bananas. However I can't reach the links you posted at webhostautomation.com, and I'm having trouble registering at that site to view the articles. Please, can you paste in the solution here?
Thanks!

Just do a search on there for Frontpage and it will come up, Frontpage - Record for role 'Advanced author' not found in Roles configuration was one of them. No need to register on that part whatsoever. Setting up basic authentication on all websites also came up as well. But a search for Frontpage should display the articles
