Editing text posted in a forum - 10/22/2001 20:10:00
Hi,

I'm playing with MS FP2002 forum template. The main question at this time is how to delete and/or edit messages posted at the forum by others. I know how to do it with a guestbook, but ran into problems with the forum (which has more files). When I live-edited the text, the page turned blank the next time I visited the site. I've fixed the visual aspect of the site but still can't figure out how to edit in the future, when and if necessary. As always, thank you.

With the web open > tools > web settings > Advanced > check "show docs in hidden dirs"

The individual articles are stored in the _disc folder. You can open these and edit the text. It's possible to delete them altogether, but that can run you into problems if somebody else is posting while you're doing that. It's usually best not to delete the article. Just put "message deleted" if need be.

Wow! Thanks. Though treading carefully, I made the changes flawlessly. I much appreciate the prompt reply and right-on-target help.
