PC or Mac? - 2/1/2006 14:39:27
As professionals here....:) I was wondering if most of use a PC or Mac for web design/graphics? Do you have any reason why you use one over the other? Also a side note--Have any of you upgraded to DW 8? I'm using DW 2004, and was wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

I've got both a pc and a mac - I use the pc for designing mainly because it's got HTML-kit which is my primary design tool and Photoshop elements - I actually really like the mac but to use it every day would mean spending money on new software (BBedit for example) and I'm too much of a skinflint!

why not download the trial of dw8 and see? i've been trying it and like it but whether it's worth it depends on how much you use it and how much money you have ;) i didn't find the leap from mx 2004 so huge this time round

Hmmm... tough question since Mac's now run on PC :)

I use PC. Both Windows and Linux. I like Mac but I have other things to spend the extra $ on

Honestly if you're only comparing the software that runs on top of the OS there isn't a whole lot of difference between them. Do the dual G5 Macs run fast? Heck yeah... but do they work better than a dual core Pentium or AMD 64? Not noticably for web dev.

The biggest difference (other than the obvious: price) is the operating system itself. Mac's tend to be far more user friendly than Windows or Linux. You just have to get used to them (like you did with Windows) and be willing to pay the premium for the hardware.

That and if you use a Mac you're going to have a hard time testing your websites in IE6

:)
