Specifying a time delay - 2/8/2006 18:17:34
I'm creating a site where there are lots of medical terms, and was using the <acronym> tag to define them but sometimes that tag cut off some of the definition so now I'm using a tooltip method. I've set the curser to "curser: help;" using CSS, but I'm wondering if there's a way with CSS to specify the time delay between the curser question mark appearing on hover and the tooltip apppearing?

At present there's about a second delay with an <acronym> tag but with the tooltip it's instantaneous and I'd prefer there to be a gap of about a second.

I've found a few js that describe what I'm trying to do like this one but I'd prefer to do it using CSS if possible. Does anyone know?

Nicole

It has to happen in the browser as the page is rendered, javascript is the only way without severely violating your visitors rights to not have their systems messed with :)

Thanks Bobby.

It just looks a bit weird that a dotted underlined word is obviously going to make the viewer move the mouse over it to see what it is.....then all of a sudden there's a big question mark AND the definition at the same time. Would much prefer a short delay in the definition appearing but if I can't do it with CSS then I probably won't do it.

Thanks for responding.

Nicole
