Finominal Sport Fishing Site Review - 2/9/2006 12:18:42
http://www.finominalsportfishing.com

A few minor details to take care of but I figured I would get your thoughts on the design.

Thanks.

Ooops, something isn't right, prompting for a password, guess I was logged in before when I looked...damn. Give me a few minutes.

Edit: Well, somehow the password that was set for the IUSER account on the Authentication and access control section of the Directory Security tab didn't match the actual password for that user account. Retyping and confirming the password in that area did the trick. Critique away, please.

I like it Dave, quite neat and easy to read and navigate. For once the use of a serif font doesn't really bother me.

Perhaps the whole page could be centered and on the private parties page some photos of people having fun rather than just fireworks.

I agree with Nicoleoz about it being centered and maybe the top and bottom boarded like you have the one side because on the larger pages it looks as if you have more to scroll through than there actually is.

Overall, looks good to me, and I agree that it would look better if centred.

One minor thing on this page in Firefox, the pic of Laura extends below the black border of the container div.

Also, you seem to have a mix of Garamond and Times New Roman for body text. It is a good idea to standardise on one. I'm actually not keen on serif fonts for body text, especially TNR. I tend to mostly use Verdana, because it is easy to read on the screen. But that is very much a personal taste thing.

Thanks all for the critiques. This site was an experiment for me as much as it was a client site. I did it entirely using FrontPage absolute positioning, basically using FrontPage as a drag and drop (and drag to resize for some of the background boxes) editor to position elements. I was certainly surprised when everything showed up pretty much the same in IE and FF (although FF position is slightly different, a matter of a few pixels you can definately see on the right hand side where the text image below the marlin is. In IE it's centered, in FF it's slightly off center to the left.

That is why I went with a left aligned page. Centering absolutely is a much different animal because of IE quirks.

The rates page Kitka mentioned in FF at the bottom is definately a concern. I'll have to take a look at that one element breaking. It must be a spacing issue between IE and FF.

Also, all of the body fonts should be the same. One of my staff memebers fills in the content after I create the design, so they might have copied and pasted some text that changed the font to FrontPage defaut times new roman.

I like the site very much.

It has just the right amount of text. People might actually read it.

Get your pictures on there.

Plain and simple and clear, including prices. Perfect!

Looks like full marks then :):):). The only thing that I didn't get on with was the thickness of the 'interior' borders but you can put that down to personal preference then forget I said it :)
