buchan -> Publishing from web server to hard disk as backup (2/10/2006 6:09:49)

When I try to publish back to hard disk from our web server, I get an error message:
Server error: Server couldn't send 'catalog.wci/CiCL0001.000'
And publishing stops.
These .wci files are microsoft index files created at the server end presumably to enable searching. I can't label them 'don't publish' which would solve the problem as another error comes back ' file in use'
We have cleared the server web site completely and republished and re-installed FP server extensions but get the same error.
Anybody come across this problem before and what causes/cures it?
