Site Analysis - 2/14/2006 13:38:50
Recently a client had a web site analysis done by another company. Of course the company came back with suggestions and the fee they charge to actually do the suggestions. Fortunately for me, the client is sticking with me. He does realize company's will always try to make suggestions to get his business. I'm also working with the client to tweak his site even though he is the one who approved the finish product. My question: Say my client decided to have the other company make the suggested changes to his web site. How would you handle it? Do you hand over the site to the other company and just take your name off of it? The reason I ask is because in the contract it states the code is not his, just the graphics and web site copy he provided to me.

Usually when a client pays for their website - it is theirs. We maintain quite a few websites but once we complete it, we will ZIP it for them & send it over. I tell them they might not understand what it is or what to do with it, but they might appreciate it one of these days. For clients that we make a lot of changes for, I usually ZIP up their website every couple of months. Plus I also make sure they understand how to get into their site, just in case

Great information to know. I will definitely tweak the wording of the contract based on everyone's suggestions. Thanks!
