How to improve page rank - 2/14/2006 15:03:29
I am working on a site that is for a service company and need suggestions on how to improve his ranking.
In the code I have:
title
description
keywords
At the moment the site only has one link related to their industry. I am waiting on approval to link to an industry related article.
There is only one image on the site because they wanted to keep costs down for the time being. For the image description I put the company name.
How can I improve their page rank when the site basically consists of just text? Note: This is a brand new company.

Approval to use an article on the web site. According to the article I need approval.
I did read some of the forums. I will try the recommendations I found in the forums.
Usually how long does it take to get listed in google? I found conflicting answers.

Have also read much and spent considerable time on this subject. My conclusion is that anyone that says they "know the secrets" to get you immediately ranked highly are full of something.
Short of going the pay per click routine my thoughts are it just takes time and certain categories take much more time than others.
For example our little hobby/occupation here i.e. web design, web development, web graphics can take a VERY long time because there are so many people trying to get ranked.
It is hard to be relevant in a broad area.....so find as specific or specialized keywords as you can for the particular industry your site fits. Find as many relevant to your site people you can to link to you.

True, only because of the 'immediately' disclaimer, but I also believe the majority of people think there is no more to be done on a site than a bit of keyword optimization.

I have robots visiting my sites for search engines that I never knew existed and the Googlebot visits me at least twice per week but I still suffer with page rankings. It occurd to me that some search engines might be employing systems that do not allow my site to be viewed in the search results if the search was conducted from my computer!? This would prevent fraudulent clicks and ensure an accurate ranking!?
We need to test this theory by getting 10 people to search for their own sites and then search for somebody elses to compare the results shown.
Anyway, search engine experimentation might make for a good article on OutFront?
