RSS hosting - 2/14/2006 19:35:17
I'm new to RSS hosting...need info regarding how it works, e.g., (1) Is it essentially the same as hosting a website? (2) If a feed is hosted, what happens when a website viewer clicks the RSS button?... (a) does the viewer need a "reader" in order to view and read the contents of a hosted RSS feed?...or (b) does content appear as a list of URLs which can individually be opened in a new HTML window? Thanks!

My rss feed is a xml file that resides in one of my web sites. I use FeedForAll to update that file. Subscribers use an rss reader to view that file. The rss reader periodically (throughout the day) goes to all of the feed files a user has subscribed to and checks for and then downloads any updates. You don't need any kind of specialized host to hold an rss feed, but it's very helpful to have specialized software to help you create and publish one. You can find more info on that at the url below. http://www.outfront.net/rss.htm t
