moving a domain - 2/24/2006 4:38:38
Hi,

I've got a client who was with a different hosting company previously, and they had a domain name there. The domain is about to run out, it needs to be renewed but since they are not hosted at the same place I'm not sure on the best way to go about it?

Should I get the current hosts to try and move the domain over and renew it? Who can make that request as I'm not listed anywhere on the domain registration??

Sorry, but I always find the non-technical side of domains difficult to understand. Real mental block on it!!!:)

It would need to be your client, the person who the domain's registered to.

Find out the registrar. Depending on the time line - you might need to re-register with them. Some places play games with the changing of the registrar - especialy in the last few weeks of the domain name expiring.

The client has to do everything so because that is who the domain name is registered to.
