Easy Html Calendar - 3/2/2006 8:59:34
I ran across this calendar & found it very easy to use.

There is a version for Macs & Windows. You can try it before you buy it & price is low.

Documentation is also pretty good.

Is it possible to keep multiple calendars on this? Looking for something web based to keep multiple people's calendars for one of my clients. They are a counseling center and have multiple counselors that we need to keep up with their appointments.

www.airset.com might do the trick for you (they plan on keeping their free online version free!).

Personally, i prefer Calendarscope to create different .html calendars. It exports to a couple of files and it's a snap to create colourful calendars (using latest beta).

I've found it to be pretty versatile over the past couple of years.

I'm wondering if there is a calendar program out there that produces valid HTML and CSS. The two mentioned here either produce deprecated HTML [FONT] or use MS-Themes. I need something that is accessible and will be usable with different user agents.

I haven't come across one that specifically claims to be accessible - my usual source for such things: http://www.accessifyforum.com/ doesn't turn up much either.

If you do come across one, please do post a link to it in this topic. I've researched in the past but that was more than a year ago. Someone may have come out with one since then. If not, I'd be willing to work in a collaborative environment to assist you in making your current calendar program valid HTML and CSS. Please keep in mind that this could be a monumental task based on what I've seen out there. Most of them have lots and lots and lots of code bloat, html errors, etc.

I did a quick Google and did not find a lot of positive results. There was one that was using CSS and tables, but was not completely accessible. I've also been thinking about how one could make one accessible, but it is difficult to do in tabled form.

When I have looked at the accessibility sites to see what they do, I've noticed they have pretty much stuck with a linear - non-tabled - format.

I'll keep looking

In what way wasn't it accessible? Navigation? Didn't work if you had certain things turned off? Let's define accessibility first. Some of those things may be easy fixes. Tables are fine and in fact would be required in a calendar environment. Sorry to all of you CSS Purists, the talent is just not available in mass to produce a fully valid CSS tableless calendaring system. Or at least to my knowledge it isn't. ;)

The first thing I look at when reviewing these types of programs is the amount of code generated behind the scenes and what it looks like. When I view source, do I get a message telling me that the file is too big for Notepad? If so, that may be a flag. When I view source, is the opening <html> tag below the fold (BTF)? Why? Is it because there are lines upon lines of function calls happening behind that page?

If those pages are weighing in heavily, I usually pass. I'd like to find a lightweight fully valid HTML/XHTML/CSS calendar that uses both semantic markup and of course tables. It should be 100% portable, plug and play, and validate out of the box. Anybody got one? Are "we" asking for too much? :)

I should have clarified my response that I was looking for something that would meet Section 508 and WCAG Accessibility Standards.

I'll have to go back to the one I spotted with CSS/HTML and see if I can recall why I thought it would not meet these standards. I suspect it may have had something to do with the amount of JavaScript involved. The standards require that the content continue to be available to the user if JS and scripting is turned off. I did not test, it was just a quick guess.

Here's a HTML calendar that I have been using for the last 5 years.

http://www.dbhsoftware.com/

No JS. Do know how compliant it is but it is fast loading. Not too many bells and whistles though.

I have spent quite a bit of time looking at all of these listed above, and then after getting totally confused decided to talk to Thomas.

He recommended www.phplite.com and I have to say I like it very much and it seems perfect for what we need. (multiple users with each having their own calendar and easy to update) Not free, but very reasonable price of $ 49.95 seems worth it.

Okay with that back to drinking and watching basketball.

Yes, and it appears to require javascript.
