Does anyone use Godaddy for their hosting solutions? I'm also interested in becoming a reseller and start handling my clients hosting needs. Is anyone a Godaddy reseller?

We used to use them go domains but we are transferring everything away. I go to a lot of forums, and people with Godaddy seem to have more issues - or maybe it is just that Godaddy has more customers. I would recommend them for domain registration only

Don't use them as a host only for domain registration.

I used to use Godaddy but had horrible billing problems and they always came up with excuse after excuse. Three (3) times my site went down because of billing problems that were not of my doing. I finally found Hostek.com and have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS and their price is cheaper. I do have my domains registered with Godaddy though but no more hosting. Good Luck, The Rev.

Their domain registration is ok, as long as you don't mind looking at ads and being asked to add on every product godaddy offers.

What's more important to you, price or service? How much do you know about hosting? And what OS?

Bobby, Does he really need to know about hosting? Some hosts still do technical support for the reseller. I think he needs to research what a "reseller account" means to see if he it is what he thinks it is. For my current host they offer several variances for reseller status. One is you, the reseller, does all billing and support. Two is you the reseller does all billing but no support. The client would then call the actual reseller. I am going to create a reseller account with my current host. This way I get around 30% off my own hosting needs and use it for all of my sites. From readings MCDs post I think that is what he meant when posting: quote:
I have about 16 sites and would like to become a host reseller. Even if going for option one he still would not need to be technically orientated. He would play middle person. Is that a great scenario, maybe not. Hosting profits are slim though so would it really be worth the profit? Take care, Brian

Does he really need to know about hosting? - It depends on where he goes, like you say above with the two options. There is also another way he can go, where his host does the entire support, but he handles billing. I knew nothing when I started a couple of years ago with my first reseller account. Once I picked up a reseller account, the place I was with was basically handled me like they were my teacher. --- quote:
Hosting profits are slim though so would it really be worth the profit? - 16 accounts on my lowest plan would generate almost $3,000/yr.

Consider a decent reseller account to cost about $25/mo for about 20 accounts, so $300/yr. Another $100 for processing fees, then whatever support costs would be. If you know a little, usually you can get by managing it yourself. $1 per ticket is usually the support costs. I would end up somewhere with $2500 using the figures above. Hosting is a very profitable industry as long as you don't try to compete with poor service and low prices.
