website looking off in Firefox but fine in IE! - 3/8/2006 15:24:43
hey guys,
I am making a website at
http://www.umass.edu/anthmorphometricslab/
The website looks fine in IE but the font and the margins are off in Firefox/Netscape! Do you guys have any suggestions/solutions? I try to look into CSS but I don't really know what to do with it!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!!

Hi

I'm on a mac currently and I'm afraid it's off there too. I haven't got my usual tools to hand to check but did you use MS word or MS publisher to help make the site? There seems to be a lot of odd proprietory code in there.

If you want your site to work cross browser then your best bet is to not use Word or Publisher at any stage as they tend to produce horrible horrible code. If you're using FP then make sure you check your site as you go along in Firefox as it's a standard compliant browser. If your site works in FF then it usually looks the same in all other "good" browsers (Opera, Netscape 7, Safari, Camino, FF mac etc etc). Then it it usually easier to tweak it to solve any outstanding problems in IE (it's very hard to do this the other way around).

Hi,
Thank you so much for the prompt reply! I am working in FP 2003 and I did copy text from MS Word and made text boxes and such (Ie. I copied text from Word and paste them into FP). I don't know if this is what you mean. I didn't use Word or Publisher to make the page itself.
I did set the left margin to 150 in order to center the page (this was when I just started) so I did it to all of the pages. Could this be a problem?
