Background Warnings - 3/9/2006 0:57:59
Just a note for anyone else who is stressing about the "You have no background-color with your color" or similar warnings from the validator..

Finally managed to remove the warnings by using:

background-color:inherit

I know they are only warnings but I find them annoying :) .

Now I have to work out how to avoid using that and write out the code correctly..

Yeah but I've heard that using background inherit messes up Opera. You're probably better off just leaving it as is if you can't "solve" them by adding an actual colour.

Hi Dave, I did try transparent first off but the warnings still appeared. Also attempted background image none. Problem is very probably me.

Tailslide, do you know what Opera does with this? I googled and could not find much. Unfortunately I don't have Opera to test - it was hard enough to get the ITguys to allow me to install FF.

One of my concerns is that inherit may bring in something from a users style if I use this for something available to the rest of the world, not just on our intranet.

The warnings really annoy me - should probably take a weekend out to put in colours and backgrounds for everything - but that is going to annoy me too :)
