expanding divs - 3/9/2006 9:19:28
I making what is a CSS version of a frames type layout. I'm having trouble getting the header to expand across the top of the screen for higher resolutions and getting the navagation on the left to expand with the content.

I tried width:100% on the header but it only expands to the edge of the content. Then I came back to it this morning and I don't know what is different but width: 100% expands it past the edge of the screen.

For the nav I tried wrapping all my divs in one large one hoping my content would push out the large one and have my nav expand with that large one but no luck.

Can anyone help?

I think I got the width of the header solved but I changed my positions to relative to do it and now I get an extra problem in firefox that isn't in IE - the main content overlaps with the nav.

In any case I can't get the expanding height to go yet on any browser. I am somewhat new to CSS.

Okay I fixed the overlapping problem in FF (although technically I suppose it was an IE problem not overlapping it like it was told). I still can't get the height thing to go however.

How do you fix text sizes in FF. I put a set point size but it still won't work (does in IE) I want my header and navagation to stay set and leave the contents expandable but FF expands everything. I noticed outfronts links uptop don't expand. Is that just because it is an image?

Also, I got the header to expand width wise but how do I do the same for my main content? If I do the 100% width like my header, it expands to 100% of the screen size and shoots down below the navagation bar.

With every answer I only find more questions...

Nevermind, I got the height to work finally. Shouldn't this stuff be easier than searching for hours to accomplish one little thing?

I didn't solve the text size thing but at least it is fixed point in the header and nav for IE.
