CSS - 3/16/2006 23:37:50
Is there a page somewhere on the net that uses CSS that I could download to my computer and open in FP to see if I can figure out how they work?

Google 'css templates' and quite a few come up.

FWIW, I found these very useful for learning:

Also, if you go the zen garden, you can download files from that site and view them in note pad etc..

One of the best sites with different types of work all based on the same layout.

I would suggest that you take a look at this site.

Here's another take:
40 layouts
In just about any combination you could think of.

You can download each of them separately or download the zip file containing all of them. For ease of use the css is in the head of each document. The beauty of the technique(s) they use is that they all work with the same html document structure. So you can just switch columns, headers, footers etc as you wish without the need to change the html - great for producing your own series of templates.:)

That's a nice page Spit - not seen that before.

There's also this: http://www.thenoodleincident.com/tutorials/box_lesson/boxes.html which has several layouts too.

You want to start off using something really simple like these so you can get the general idea first. Many of us who use CSS layouts have so much gumpf (technical term that) in our stylesheets that it could end up being more confusing than helpful for those starting out.

Nice links duly bookmarked :)

Glish is another nice css one.

Yup, most of my css has more gumpf than you can shake a stick at. Of course what I really need to do is to remember to comment my css so that when I look at it again I've some hope of remembering what all the bits of gumpf scattered around are.

(I do hope you're not mixing css gumpf with the other sort Tail, or your css could get very messy indeed! :))

Thanks for that link spitfire, I'm going to add that to my directory.

Which btw, if anyone has any suggestions to links for it, I would love to have them pm'd to me.

I wanted to create something that was easy to find information in and the directory was the ideal thing to do.

All links are free, nothing is required in return, except to learn css as well as possible!

Would that be suggestions in addition to the sticky you authored on the CSS forum or in place of posting there?

I can't believe you looked that up!! :) BTW far as I know that's not the actual origin. Aviation is full of these forced acronyms: FREDA checks, GUMPF checks, HASEL checks, BUMFICH checks (yes really I swear that's real) etc etc

both,

I would not suggest this in place of posting in here. :)

The directory is listed in my sig, so you could place it on there as well as the thread in here for posting links related to css: (http://www.frontpagewebmaster.com/m-173804/tm.htm)
I would suggest posting it in this thread first, this way other outfronters and surfers would be able to view it easily as well.

Then if you wish, submit to the directory. I'm in the process of building it gradually. No fees are required to post in it, nor are any links back required. Just my way of making it easier to learn css for others.
