dcarl999 -> Updates messed up Frontpage (3/18/2006 2:55:53)

Hi,

I have been running a personal server for many years on my desktop, mostly for development and testing. I am using Office 2003 Pro and on the same machine with FP2002 extensions and FP2003. This week MS released some security updates for Excel and Outlook and when installed Frontpage is no longer recognized as an editor, however the server is still running. In other words, I can edit in Frontpage, but I am no longer able to preview. I spoke to a friend of mine and he is having the same trouble and I have duplicated the results on another machine.

As I try to open a web using Frontpage on my localhost and virtual directories I am receiving a dialog box that states:

"An error occurred accessing your Windows SharePoint Services site files. Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for the server's Web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application event log for more details." and another that states something to the effect "Unable to open Classes/Software/.acp"

When I restore to prior to the updates being applied, Frontpage works again and I am able to edit and view my site/subsites from Frontpage. I have not had any trouble connecting and editing a hosted server with or without the patches.

Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can apply the security updates and still run FP?

Thanks in advance.
