Corel -> Any ideas of what's wrong!? (3/21/2006 10:32:28)

Hi
I've put a site together for a nursing company, very much based on what they wanted, and in some cases not what I would consider that tasteful in web design? Having steered them away from flashing text and scrolling banners they insisted they wanted fading in effects in the banner. But no matter how I try, and I've been trying with Swish, the text always looks a little fuzzy and again this is often a problem I have when exporting from fireworks as well. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?!? the link to the site is http://www.chatsworthtraining.co.uk . Thanks for any advice offered. Corel

it looks like the text has the "lossyness" inherent with a .jpg imported in swish. cant you create vector text in swish? you can in flash

Corel,

I had the same problem with some similar looking text in a static image a while back and seem to remember that saving the file as a .png worked a treat. Can you try that with your script?

Perhaps the letter spacing and size of the text could be making it worse as it is now?

Hope that helps

Nicole

i agree with DPF,,

when i import an image that is medeum to low settings i get that fuzzy look around it. i usually set them to high if im using photoshop or i dont have a problem when im using fireworks

hope this helps

Many thanks for advice, will give your ideas a try and let you know how I got on. The weird thing is when I look at the demos in swish they all look perfect!

thats because when swish "publishes the movie" it compresses - look to see if you can set the compression higher, or as i suggested earlier, use the built in vector text rather than import an image
