Migrating from XP-Home to XP-Pro - 3/25/2006 13:14:37
I'm probably going to be buying a PC with XP-Home pre-installed. I want to install XP-Pro. I already have the full version of XP-Pro. Should I reformat the drive and install XP-Pro from scratch or can I simply "upgrade" with the full version disk I own? If I can "upgrade" then is this recommended? Would I be better off starting from scratch or does it not make any difference whether I upgrade or start from scratch? Thanks, Andrew

Thanks for the advice. I'll just do it from scratch. But to answer Dan's question ("...why not buy one with pro installed?"), it's because I can get a good price on the hardware I want. I'd buy it without the OS. I was just looking to save time on the installation. Maybe I'll be able to use the Home license on an older laptop that I've got. Thanks again, Andrew
