Bit of a problem about getting it updated for Firefox 1.5 I'm afraid. The developer has said the next version will be a commercial product. It was on his blog a while back - it seems he has wiped his blog and refuses to answer e-mail or other queries. His home page is no longer available to boot. However, Fire Vox is more or less ready to step up to the microphone. (in reply to womble)

spitfire Posts: 424 Joined: 8/6/2005 Status: offline	RE: Opera voice - 3/27/2006 14:55:27 Caz I've just tried three commercial screen-readers on 1/2 : JAWS (world leader, huh!) says "half", Window-Eyes (world #2 according to some) says"one, pause, two", Hal (according to the developers #1 in the UK) says "half". Of course all of them have very well hidden options for the user to select the verbosity or how much/what is read out. Few users delve that deep. Screen-reader emulators like FoxyVoice are just that - their developer's emulation or idea of what an actual screen-reader might say, perhaps, sometimes, with a following wind . (in reply to caz)

I had a chance to compare its performance against the performance of Jaws, the IBM home reader, and a couple of others (with their default settings) and the performance is really quite accurate. Opera is in my tool box for that reason more than any other. I do, also, really like its RSS reader.
