well I meant it - Bass Ale or Guiness would do just fine (dark Jamaican rum also but there is inherent danger there)

Guinness - I'm impressed. Right then it's one dozen oysters and a couple of pints of the black and white nectar at Wheelers next time they let you into the UK.
Don't "turn your nose up at oysters (Whitstable ones at that)" because oysters and Guinness together have a very positive effect on the libido. Always assuming you can still stand up afterwards, that is. :)

PS sorry about the Wheelers website (now't to do with me) but they don't need any advertising/marketing anyway.:)

Excellent, but "as valid as it can get" is a bit like saying someone is "50% dead". Go on, go for 100% valid and to heck with the consequences

ah but I love oysters - raw.. and mussels. I like the English beers the most - Samuel Smiths is a fav but Bass Ale is my #1 - on tap not bottled. however, I really cannot eat while drinking - it interferes with my drunkeness

I love almost any beer that does not come from the big brewerys in the states... EXCEPT the micro brews. If you love beer (i'm getting the gut to prove it) Dogfish Head out of New England (Delaware I think) is my fav....

Damn I want some right now. Think my boss will notice if I slip away for an hour?

Yep... we can do draught Bass, we can do a lot of beers on draught, there are still a large number of bitters and Kent (Whitstable) is the centre of English hop growing BUT have you tried "scrumpy" yet? That'll rot your socks off.
OMG another terrible website - we Brit Bon Viveurs don't care a jot though:)

Mmmm scrumpy... (remembers teenage years fondly) :)

Most smallish English country pubs will have quite a wide choice of draught beer - and there are a lot of local beers too.

Me too!

Damn! I go AFK for less than 24 hours and an OF p*ss up starts up without me!

/mental note to self - "ensure logged in to OF even when away from house/busy doing other things (like they were soooo important anyhow!) (/mental note to redraft priorities)/asleep, etc. :)

I am also somewhat perturbed to find myself listed amongst these "experts"...people think I actually know what I'm talking about...? :)

Just to go back on topic (yeah, I know it's rare! :)), on the subject of doctypes and validation, and to add another cliche - as my old ma says, if something's worth doing, it's worth doing right. :)

Falls over in a heap to be named amongst such luminaries...you sure you've not already had one or two too many dpf, old chap? :)

Just for devilment RH, you could always code your employer's site to be valid here and there when you have slack times. Just for practice, you understand...:)

BTW, I hate beer give me Baileys anyday. :)

RE: doctypes - 3/30/2006 9:22:36
Just to prove that Baileys isn't a girlie drink, a little story from my university days...

...one Christmas, my housemates and I in the student house where I lived decided to do an end of term Christmas dinner, turkey, stuffing, brussels spouts, the whole works....
After we'd spent half the night before preparing the veg (we were catering for 12), half the day cooking it all, and most of the other half eating it, we decided (being poor students) to pool our recources to buy a little after dinner tipple. There was an off-licence down the road on the corner, and off we went with our pooled resources and bought ourselves a couple of litre bottles of Baileys.

Back at the house we settled down infront of the TV, glasses ready and opened the bottle. Now one of our number, Alan, was well known for his drinking habits...he regularly woke us when he returned home in the early hours of the morning after his customary 10 pints a night in the student bar, and then spent most of the following day "recovering". We never tried to outdrink him in the bar though. We valued our livers too much. Anyhow, first bottle of Baileys open, we started pouring the drinks. When Alan came to try his, we couldn't beleive our ears when he pronounced it far too strong for him and could he have some lemonade to water it down with? Now as all seasoned Baileys drinkers know, the one thing you do not do with Baileys is "water it down" with regular mixers, becuase it curdles it. So, we ended up "watering it down" for him with milk, and then proceeded to drink him under the table.

That was the last we heard from him about us and our "girlie drinks"...:)
