windows media player xhtml strict css validation - 3/30/2006 18:14:59
Can anyone guide me to a site that has a windows media player embedded that is xhtml strict and validates both xhtml strict and css?

I would love to learn how to do this since I now have two children who are married and video of both that I would like to display within a media player.

However, I wish for this to meet the standards that I use for all the pages that I do,

any and all help would be so greatly appreciated!

I've never tried this. Assuming that the Flash Satay method and other clever validating flash methods won't work with media player and you're determined to get it validating then you might have to write your own DTD. http://www.alistapart.com/articles/customdtd/

It might be easier to have a screenshot on your valid page then linked into another page with the actual embedded video.

I can convert the movie to flash if you wish. I might be able to create the other flash file - I am not certain. (my programmers did it for us on one site using that method and it works great.) But if you know anything about flash, it should be pretty simple.

thanks, I had someone from another forum do one for me that worked in IE and ff, but when I tried to put it into my own page, which was xhtml strict, in ff the media player showed up, however in IE it would not show up at all.

When I tried to validate the page, I figured it was due to the strict dtd

You might also take a look at Standards-compliant Windows Media Player OBJECT tag

Thanks corey, this looks really interesting and confusing, but I am goign to read over this a few times.

I'm sure that i will have to come across this again, so for myself I am going to try to do this so that it is cross browser workable and xhtml strict validated as well.

I knew that oen of the tags was depreciated which is why it wasn't working in the xhtml strict, but that is what I wish to work with, and know that numerous others do as well, so there has to be a solution to this in regards to css and xhtml strict.

I found this:
http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_av.html
which appears to be an interesting product, i would like to know what you think of it in here?

It seems like it would be a terrific alternative to the other methods.
