Google ranking opposed to other search engines - 4/4/2006 15:27:11
Good evening (at least it is for me), how is it possible that I get good placement results in native searches (Dutch) for Ilse, MSNsearch, Yahoo and Lycos but a bad placement in Google. Ilse page 1 place 2 Msnsearch page 1 place 5 Yahoo and Lycos page 2 place 11 It is my believe that I have used the normal SEO tactics for the webpage but it never was listed in the first 10 page of Google and now I even see it dropping by the day, it is now on page 20. I really do not know what is happening, what did I wrong. Site traffic is growing by the day and also almost once a week a new page is added to the site. Using a link popularity checking tool I found out that the site had backlinks (27) in the past in Google but now it comes up with the number "0". Which I think results in dropping the position. So, my questions are: Why is that big difference in search results between Google and other search engines? What is wrong in my page that influences the search from Google? What can I improve on the page? The website where I am talking about is A&C Koi "en the search term used is koi" <added at 5 April>. Thank in advance for helping.

Hi! The difference between the search engines is the fact that they all use different algorhythms along with other factors. Google for example uses "on page" factors, along with inbound links for ranking. Yahoo used mostly "on page" factors, and is easy to "game" thier system. I believe MSN is also "on page" factors... They all use a slightly "tweaked" algo to rank, each one is different, so what works for one may not work for another. If your issue is G, build quality inbound links to help. This doesn't mean go out and buy 40,000 inbound links. G likes a gradual growth of inbounds. A sudden huge increase of inbounds can get you stuck in the "sandbox" until a manual review of your site can be made... Hope that helps!
