Recommendations for external hard disk - 4/5/2006 5:56:44
Hi

Can anyone recommend an external hard disk to use with XP? Going to be used mainly for backups.

Thanks

I've got a Maxtor One Touch which does the job nicely - Once it's set up you literally just press a button on the side of the hd and it copies either a set amount of files (that you've set it up to do) or it copies the lot - the whole thing. I bought it when my old pc was in it's death throes and I reaslised I was about to lose the lot! I managed to plug it in, set it up and copy all the files I wanted within a few minutes and thankfully before the PC finally gave out.

I think it's mainly aimed at doing backups but can't see a reason why you can't just use it as an external drive if you don't want that facility.

I use the Maxtor One Touch too, backups are painless - once you go through the setting up phase, which can be something of a pain. Before I got a second internal hard drive I did use it for that purpose too, mostly for all the image files.

Thankyou both of you, that sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for.
