I hear more often that Macs are the crash prone set up

OS 9 - yes. OSX - no. The way memory is allocated on X prevents a program crash becoming a system crash. It's like the Virtual Machine architecture that MS is moving towards.

Hopefully they'll go the whole hog and the VM won't just run in it's own protected memory space, but it'll have it's own settings, so you'll be able to customize applications completely as if it was the only app on the machine.

And if it crashes, nothing else gets touched. I haven't seen the CTP yet though, busy saving my coppers to get an MSDN sub... but I'm perpetually skint:)

I'm not saying it doesn't crash

- My bad, when I read "also means it doesn't crash, mine doesn't" I thought you meant yours doesn't crash. :)

those were always due to Media (Such as a DVD/CD or Avi/jpeg/mppeg type codec screw up.

- Well, you can blame a faulty application on itself, but it reflects the performance of the OS's ability to handle it.

I think most experts lead to the fact it's a non race event anyhoo as the two systems are so different in man ways,

- Macs take up a huge market share (usually in higher end systems), I wouldn't be suprised if MS tries to stick their hand in that area.
