File name to auto reboot - 4/6/2006 12:05:00
I am trying to set up scheduled tasks for our servers here at work, and I have the scheduled tasks set up for our 2003 and xp machines to auto reboot using shutdown.exe with paramaters. However, the reboot file is called something else in 2000 machines. Does anyone know what it is?

Also, defrag for that matter has a different name in 2000 than 2003, any ideas on that one also?

The Windows 2000 resource kit contains a utility call shutdown.exe. Create a batch file containg a command to run shutdown.exe, with the proper switches. Save this file on your hard drive. Add a new task. Have it run the batch file you created.

I just did a search on my pc for shutdown.exe and it didn't find it on the 2000 server...it is on the 2003 server, but not 2000.

Shutdown.exe is available in the Microsoft Windows 2000 Resource Kit. It's on the CD.

That sounds like what I'm looking for; however, the link provided didn't have shutdown.exe as an available download.

It is part of the resource kit not as an individual download. Hey, it's a useful download so if you have the bandwidth, grab it and check it out - a lot more in there than just shutdown.exe :)

What about defraging the drive with scheduled tasks on a 2000 server? Again, i can on a 2003, but 2000.
