Forms: "email results" - Can I change message... - 4/8/2006 16:21:42
In a form within a page that was created in FP 2003, I:

*Right click inside the form itself
*Select "Form Properties"
*Select "Options"
*Then go to "E-mail Results" tab

In this tab, under "Email message header" section, there is a place for the subject line. It appears you can choose either one static subject line that you type yourself OR you can choose just 1 form field name. Is there any way to include two form field names OR a form field name plus some static text that does not change? For example, I would like the form fields "name" and "account_number" to be in the message email's subject line (name and account_number are both form field names on this page) so that the email arrives with a subject line of "John Doe 214578". Alternatively, I would like the "name" form field to appear plus some static text such as "New Order From blah.com". Is this possible?

Thanks in advance,
Doug

It might be possible. With FP forms, you are somewhat very limited. Using a server side language to process the form, you have more leeway. I think thought that you can only use either form field names or static text - not mixed.

Did you try it with your two form fields only to see the results?

Hi Cory -

Yes, I tried that. It doesn't work and actually won't display either one but instead goes to a totally unrelated default/generic email subject.

I was just hoping someone knew the correct syntax to use in the actual coding that would make it work. I tried just adding in both variables as well as bridging inside the ""marks within the coding with an "&." No luck.

Thanks.

I agree with Corey, I think you'll need to use php or asp to do it. Take a look in www.hotscripts.com to see if there's a script available that you can doctor.

Only a single field name or subject line will work.

No combos or multiple field names with the FP form handler.
