Ok, anybody has anything good to say???
Like congratulations you've done this all by yourself! (This is what my aunt said :) )

Yes, if you check back I said

Well you're getting there and some of it is very good but it's now a sort of half and half.

I always like to give some praise before I tear it to pieces. :)

Thing is, on here people will give you the real deal from their experience not just what they think you want to hear. It can be a bit painful but you'll end up with something pretty good if you listen to them. As for SEO, can I suggest you put a post in the SEO area as the experts reside in there and tend not to come in here.

Hey Jaybee,
How do you make your signature to not have that frontpagewebmaster redirect?

There are few signature that are clean and some others like mine when I hoover it says:

href="/redirect_url.asp?URL=http://www.truelending.com" target="_blank">

with some rel nofollow

Any ideas?

Not sure what others' thoughts are on this, but I find pictures of people both unnerving and sometimes intimidating on websites where they're really unnecessary. I suspect others do too, draw their own conclusions about those people and the business in general.

Unless it's a picture of the person or people going about their work in the business who's website it is, I think too many negative conclusions can be drawn.

For instance, for a start, I suspect that people trust anything dealing with finance, real estate and the like the same as used car salesmen, so I'd leave them out of your banner.

Nicole

Hi Nicole,
Thanks for your input, but I will have to disagree with you on this and from my own experience. I was running google adwords campaign and I had a simple form with no tricks, flashy images, people, houses, just a form, a header asking for action(fill the form). Well, compared to a different form that had a banner with some people and some houses the convertion was 2-3 times higher!!!. I think people here in America need things fast, I mean they need to relate easy images(people, finance, home) with what they are looking for. Here people don't like to read paragraphs of content about the "benefit of a mortgage" or whatever. They need results with the least amount of effort and brain work. This comes from my experience here in the US. Maybe in Australia people have more time and are more layed back :)

Do I make any sense?

I think you're assuming a bit too much, I'd like to hear other thoughts though.

By the way I use to be a car salesman and I disagree with the general opinion about them. They do provide a service like for example prostitutes everybody talk bad about them but in a way or another we're all a little prostitutes or used car salesman.

I don't know if you get the point?

Also - you've only got a partial DOCTYPE in there which will throw IE into Quirks Mode and may adversely affect the resulting page.

Try replacing what you've got with this:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

Of course! The blonde girl in the banner is actually a man. The two men are lovers and they are all part of a cult so obscure that it makes the Prior of Sion look like girl scouts

You are absolutely right! Financial people are all crooks! Albano would be better off giving everything up and joining a monastery somewhere.

Lighten up, Nicole! Why do you insult someone you know nothing about? I know honest used car salesmen and also very dishonest web designers!

That's the problem with aussies! You guys are so far away from everything that a few thousand years from now, you will likely have turned into bamboo-eating/tail- wagging/egg-laying/marsupial-humanoids!

Put another shrimp in the barbie, have a couple o'neckies and lighten up! LOL

I beg your pardon?

I’m simply trying to help make constructive suggestions for this website.

Current Affairs programs often run stories of the most distrusted professions, whether you agree with them or not, you’d more than likely hear comments by other people about them. Used Car Salesmen, Real Estate Salesmen, Bankers, Financial Advisors…..
Whether I or you agree with it or not, it’s a common perception that needn’t be pandered to by adding pictures of people to the website because….

People make up their own minds and opinions about the type of person in the photo. So unless you’ve got a photo of an extremely well liked individual, I wouldn’t put photos of people anywhere near your banner, especially the 3 you have in there now, look to me like young executive, greedy, ruthless people which could detract from the effectiveness of the site.

Unless it’s a photo of the business owner doing his job, I wouldn’t put any photos of people on the site, except perhaps of some people buying a house.

And, people make decisions on whether they like a website in a matter of seconds, if that, with the only things on that page being a banner image and text that is far too small to read, people are obviously going to look at the banner first.

That is what I’m saying, I did ask whether anyone else felt the same way, but so far the only two who have waded in are the site owner who tells me we’re all prostitutes and the banner designer who tells me to lighten up, drink some fosters and throw a shrimp on the barbie. I don’t need to be patronized like that, nor does it really matter to me what impressions people have of your site.

Your text is still not resizable in IE, even though this has been suggested 3 or 4 times, so I wonder whether you really want to hear all constructive criticisms and thoughts, or just the ones you want to hear.

That changes all! I didn't know one of the sources was such a reputable and respected program LOL

1. Albano was out of order when he mentioned prostitution. To truly qualify as a prostitute, one must receive payment. I didn't!

2. I NEVER mentioned Foster's. (although I like it a lot) Is your subconscious mind sending you a message?

Patronized? Lighten up, Nicole! It's all part of the fun.

I say, we remove the people on the banner and say "Maybe the Dingo ate the people"

Hi Nicole,
Thanks for your suggestions,
There is one reason why I cannot make the font resizable in the browser for IE users: I don't use liquid design. If every user will adjust the font size the way they are comfortable then all the text will spread out of the div. I may redesign all the layers in the future with liquid design, but for the moment it stays the way it is. If people can't see current font then they can adjust it with the link that I provided. You can see how bad it looks on FireFox when you try to increase font size multiple times.

Regards,

OK people, lighten up please or I'll put my moderator stomping boots on and I don't want to have to do that cos they don't match the rest of my outfit.

I realise some of the posts were meant in jest but they came across wrong. You're all from different parts of the world and what you might take as an insult may be in common usage elsewhere. Don't take offence. If you want to discuss it then take it up via PM rather than scrap in the forums and if you feel you're being unfairly attacked then talk to a moderator who'll sort it out.

And if you don't like what the Mod says then we'll send the sheep in and you really don't want that. :)

What on earth is a "neckie"?? Closest I can find in Google is a scarf, but I don't see how that translates to Fosters beer. :)

Also, isn't it interesting how advertising breeds stereotypes that are removed from reality.

Despite being born in Australia and living here for 96% of my years on earth, I had never heard of, nor seen, anyone "throw a shrimp on the barbie" until the Paul Hogan tourism ads surfaced. Traditional Australian barbies were/are steak, lamb chops and "snags" (sausages) and a bit more up-market is marinated chicken. King Prawns (shrimp to americans) are usually far too expensive for the average family.
