Goodgle Adsense - 4/11/2006 11:17:31
Hello,

I just applied for Google Adsense, which claims it will pay me if I post their search button on my site. My question is should I post the google search button on my main "index" page, or should I put the google search button on my other pages ? How many pages should I put it on. Thankyou.

It's not a search button, it's a box with adverts in, you can choose which shape. See that box immediately above your post with "Ads by Gooooooooogle" at the bottom?

You might as well put it on as many pages as possible, gives you more opportunities for clicks but what you get in it will depend on page content so if there is little content don't bother putting it there.

Google uses the content to find ads that match your subject. Check out the ad bar at the top of other threads in this forum and you'll see different offerings.

There is adsense for content and adsense search. I found that adsense search was not worth the effort, but adsense for content has been great for me and for many others.

I don't have it on all of my pages at the momemt, but I suspect I will get back to that in the forseeable future.

I have to agree. You have to have alot of traffic to try to make any money. Also God forbid someone sends a lie to Google telling them that you are clicking on your own ads because I have been told they do not even ask anyquest and remove your account. I have been told this by several people so I never used it.

Thomas, I have a client who is very interested in adsense search - what was your experience with it?

I had it in a prominent place here for a few days. I made about 20 cents or so in that time. Then I took it down.

Google has a guy who calls me on the phone every now and then to help me optimize for adsense and to convince me to emphasize my adsense ads more. He agreed with me that the search was not worth the page real estate I would have to give up.

I guess it must work in some situations or they would have gotten rid of it, but I cannot imagine a scenario where it would make enough money to generate any excitement.

Thanks for that Thomas - I've advised they go for both and then they can see for themselves the difference (they're determined to have the search anyway!).

Also, I recommended Adsense for Content to a design client of mine. He called me a few months later to tell me that he just received his first check from Google. It was over $10,000, and he's been making that kind of money every month ever since.

I'm not at all suggesting that most folks will get that kind of result, but I am suggesting that it's almost always worth looking into.

Every once in a while I have a hosting customer with a hobby site that starts going nuts with traffic. I have started recommending adsense for content to people like that. At the very least it will pay for hosting.
